Adolescent Therapy

Therapy for adolescents

Seeing a psychologist can be greatly beneficial for teenagers experiencing life challenges. The teenage years can be a difficult transitional phase for most adolescents/teens and their families. The societal pressures on young people are ever increasing and navigating life, who they are and what they need becomes difficult.

Many young people feel they cannot talk to their parents or friends about their difficulties and struggle alone with many life questions and issues.  Adolescence is a unique developmental phase, with it's own unique challenges.  Cognitively and emotionally the adolescent is at a different developmental level and therefore a different therapeutic process is called for.  In therapy it is important for the psychologist to enter the teenager's world and understand their environment and experiences from their perspective while creating a safe and confidential space for them to talk in.
